Kendal’s Great-Grandfather Sam handmade Kendal a beautiful table and chairs for her nursery.  It arrived yesterday and I’m sure she will get many years of use from it.

Look at the cute little onesies from Bitt! The Strawberry one even has ruffles on the butt! And too apporpriately, Bitt got Kendal a bib that says “Baby’s First 4th of July!”

An overdue thank you to Nick and Kristina Nanton who brought Jen and I dinner last week and some more great gifts from Kendal.  Kristina had a very cute dress and burp cloth made for Kendal to wear on Gator game days. It is even sized to be ready for her when football season comes around.  We were very excited to introduce them to Kendal, and we are sure that she will be great friends with both their sons, Brock and Bowen. Thank you again, we appreciate it all very much.

Baby Shower #2 at Lindsay’s House March 2, 2008Print This Post

Filed under: Baby's Gifts, General — jen @ 11:20 am

My second baby shower was thrown on Saturday, March 1 at Lindsay’s house by Mom and my sister. Lindsay invited all of my girlfriends to this shower, and we had a great turn out.

It was a neat shower because there were friends from elementary school (Audrey Fraizier Perrott), friends from college (including my roommates, Stefanie and Audra, who came in from out of town), lots of THETAS and people I have known only a few month but have already gotten very close to (Deborah, Lori & Jaclyn). I think there were 21 women total in attendance, and I LOVED seeing all of those friends from different aspects of my life together in one place!!!!

My sister’s house looked super cute, all done up in pink! And I think everyone had a great time. Once again, little Kendal made out like a little bandit as my friends were overly generous with their love and gifts for our baby girl.

We played a couple of cute games at the shower. First up, Lindsay asked everyone to bring diapers for Kendal in varying sizes and I drew a name for a winner. Kelly Burrington won a basket of Bath and Body Works.

Then Lindsay had this plastic “ribbon” (it was like caution tape) that said “How big is Mommy, How Big is Baby.” Each person was to cut off a strip that they thought would fit around my belly. I laughed so hard during this. Some people (like Emily) apparently thought I was huge! I think Lori and I both could have fit in some of the strips with room to spare. Ultimately, Lori, Audrey and Mandy were the closest with Mandy taking the prize dead on! Check out the pictures of everyone trying their ribbon around me!

Finally, Lindsay had everyone guess how big I was when I was born. Michelle Glass was closest by an oz! I was 8.4 lbs when I was born. (I am hoping Kendal is in the 7lbs range when she arrives!)

While I opened the gifts, Shirley’s little girl Ariani (who is almost 3) was my personal helper! She helped hand me gifts and open them. While she was shy at first, by the end she was so into opening the gifts I barley had time to see them!! It was too cute! Thanks for the help Ari!

I am SO glad little Kendal didn’t come too early yet because I would have hated to miss this special time. Thanks to everyone who came from near and far!!!

My First Shower! February 25, 2008Print This Post

Filed under: Baby's Gifts, General — jen @ 8:52 pm

Sunday was my very first baby shower. It was hosted by Mrs. Goggin and Mrs. Spann and held at the Hart Sister’s Tea Room in Sanford. It was a lovely shower and there were 16 women in attendance. After a yummy lunch, I opened the goodies for Kendal.

After the shower Mrs. Goggin and Denise came by the house to check out the nursery. It is so fun showing it off.

Once everyone left, I got to show Bobby all of the fun gifts Kendal recieved. Before we went to bed that night, the Jumperoo and playmat were all set up in preperation for Kendal’s arrival!

Look How I Will Grow! February 19, 2008Print This Post

It is so much fun to open the front door and find packages waiting for us! The other day, Ashley sent us a growth chart for Kendal’s room. Without a pause, it was taken directly to the nursery and hung on the wall.

I know it will be a while before Kendal is tall enough to reach the first mark 2 feet, but it looks so perfect in the room already!

The next day a couple more items arrived from Ashley – a cuddly bear blanket and a changing pad cover. I am oddly excited over the changing pad cover because the other night I had a dream that Kendal came early, and I was so upset (in the dream) because I didn’t even have a changing pad cover for her! The cover went straight into the wash… just in case!

Valentine’s Day February 14, 2008Print This Post

Filed under: Baby's Gifts, General — jen @ 2:56 pm

Bobby & I had a quite Valentine’s this year. Basically, we a fine dinner of a tunafish sandwhich for me and some frozen thing for Bob on the couch while we watched TV. It was perfect!

Bobby had 2 dozen multicolored roses sent to me at the office, which were beautiful. And Dad showed up looking like Santa Clause with a gift bag for Bobby, Bella & Bear, Kendal, myself and one for the family! Plus some candy for the office, of course!

Bobby got a onsie that says I Heart Daddy on the front and Daddy Hearts Me on the butt! I got an outfit that said Mommy’s little girl. Kendal got a stuffed Gator with a heart in its mouth. Bella & Bear got a blanket for us to take to the hospital to rub Kendal’s scent on it so they can get used to her smell before she comes home. And the family got a candy jar and some candle holders. Very cute stuff! See picture below.

Kendal’s bathroom! January 10, 2008Print This Post

Filed under: Baby's Gifts, General — jen @ 10:01 pm

When the fishy towels from the Nanton’s arrived, it set me into full-on bathroom decorating mode. I had only seen the fishies once, and I had been going back and forth with ideas for the bathroom. Once I had those towels in hand, I was in love!

So, I set out on an online search for a shower curtain and bathmat that would coordinate. I found one in last season’s Pottery Barn Kids collection. Since PBK no longer carries the line, I hunted eBay. Finally finding the shower curtain, I ordered Friday night. The shower curtain arrived Monday and it’s perfect with the towels.

Much to my dismay, I made a rookie eBay mistake! When I bought the curtain, there was 1 auction for the matching bathmat. Even thought it had lots of time, someone bought it!!! Oh no!!! There were no other mats listed, I even emailed everyone who used to have mats to see if they had more. I struck out over and over, and by now I was obsessed.

By now, we also received a super cute bath gift basket from Ruth and Rick Currey with the second matching towel, hoodie towel, bath book, pink rubber ducky, Johnsons’ gift pack and CM stickers — all done up with pink tissue! Thanks Rick and Ruth – We LOVE it!

Finally, Wednesday night, someone answered my want-it-now!!! The bathmat is coming! Whooo hoooo. Now, onto finding a curtain for the window…

Gifts from the neighbors… January 7, 2008Print This Post

This past week our neighbors brought by a few gifts for Kendal.

AJ, Marissa, Lauren and Dillion dropped off a cute hooded towel (picture to come later) that matches some of the stuff Aunt Lindsay already bought her.

Then today Madeline, Emily and Tyler (thanks Mark, Jen, Madeline, Tyler, Emily and Hunter) brought by a very soft bear and blanket for Kendal.

 Thank you all very much.
