2-Year-Old Check Up March 28, 2010Print This Post

We continue to be blessed with a perfectly healthy and happy toddler. I am even happy to report that her iron levels have balanced out into the levels of normal even without the iron supplements – although she does take a daily vitamin with some iron in it.

We both had to laugh when to doctor asked, “Is she saying a lot of words?” Yes… “Is she stringing 2 words together?” Yes… “Is she stringing 3 words together?” She talks ALL the time now! (And just a couple months ago I was a little worried… No problems now!)

Perfectly proportioned – in the 75% for both height and weight – she is 29.4 lbs and 34 inches tall.

She is perfect, what can I say?

Kendal’s 2nd Birthday March 23, 2010Print This Post

Since Kendal’s world seems to revolve currently around watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (Milk, T – MikMe), I decided Minnie Mouse was the perfect theme for Kendal’s 2nd birthday. Of course, once I got the theme I went all all out – Minnie Mouse everything.

Party planning began with the search all-over creation for pink polka dot paper. After finally tracking it down at a store near Melissa in TN – which she was so nice to pick up and mail to me, plans started to take shape. I designed the invites, planned the decorations, shopped for the goodie bags and made 30 pairs of mouse ears. By the way, party planning for Kendal’s March 21st birthday starts in January!

On the day of the party, everything was set and adorable (if I do say so myself). Unfortuantly, Kendal took a slip and fall about an hour before the party, and I think the fall changed her mood for the day. Once people began arriving, she was uber clingy. Poor girl, her big birthday bash was too overwhelming for her. I know she loves to play with other kids (or at least near them), so I had high hopes, but she wouldn’t let us put her down the whole party. The good news is that all of the guests had fun!

The Guest List:

Mimi & Papa Jack
Aunt Liny
Grammy & Pop-pop
Grandma & Aunt Suzie
Morgan Murray + Mom & Dad
Eva Wasyliw  + Mom & Dad (unfortuantly, Eva was sick – so Eva and Chris didn’t make it)
Ava Volckco + Mom & Dad
Stella & Camryn Willy + Mom & Dad
Julianne, Christopher, Luke & Eric Donald + Dad (Maria had a baby shower)
Sophie Spera + Mom & Dad
Delany & Avery Urshan + Mom & Dad
Nathan & Coby Bitman + Mom & Dad
Connor & Gavin Wesley + Mom & Dad
Teagan Ripple + Mom & Dad
Carter & Cameron Richburg + Mom & Dad
Emma Grace & Reece Horbal + Mom & Dad
Christopher & Andrew Novak + Dad and MIL (Julie was out of town)

Amy made the amazing Minnie Mouse cake (her famous carrot cake) and Jan’s friend Terry made the peanut butter cup cupcakes.  Don’t they look fantastic?

So, another year has gone by… sad to see it go, but I LOVE my 2 year old!

No Print This Post

Kendal has long been able to express “no,” but she had not actually said “n-o.” In the last week, that has changed. She has discovered “NO” and is not afraid to use it. No more uh-uh from her, it is a clear “no.”

The only thing that keeps me from loosing my mind with the constant “no” is that her little voice when she says no is so adorable. It is actually one of my favorite sounding words from her, however, I predict this adorableness to wear quickly if she continues to express her new word.

1st Haircut March 22, 2010Print This Post

From the moment a friend told me about this opportunity, I knew this is how K would experience her first haircut.

Tucked into a corner on Main Street USA at the Magic Kingdom is a Barber shop. It is a small shop, and even with the large barber pole out front most visitors don’t even notice that it exists. But those who do notice the small shop, are happy to wait in line for this precious attraction. Patrons young and old wait in line to have Disney barbers cut their hair, but it is the parents of the littlest ones who hold this shop so dear to their hearts.

It was my daughter’s second birthday, and we made this trip to the Magic Kingdom to celebrate this special day with her first haircut. I was surprised to find myself a bit teary-eyed over a few snips of hair, but as we stood waiting in line with other parents I became increasingly excited. I also became increasingly nervous about how my shy toddler would handle the situation, but it was her turn the experience barber showed her Disney Magic. She started by covering my daughter in stickers, then sprinkling her with glitter confetti and entertaining her with a spinning Minnie toy. K was so busy with the distractions, she didn’t even flinch as the barber made quick snips.

I was only ready for a little trim, but the inch-long lock of her hair is enough for me to save, and I will always remember this special trim at Disney. In addition to the memories and photos, we received a first haircut certificate and a pair of Mickey ears embroidered with “first haircut.”

It was a wonderful celebration for her birthday and of her first haircut.

Kendal is 2! Print This Post

Two years old. Wow. Two years ago I was just starting on this journey of mommyhood, from a helpless baby to an opinionated toddler. I just keep learning to love her more and more every day. She is cute, funny, smart and lovable. She is my whole world.

Happy 2nd Birthday to my sweet baby girl. I hope this year is just as amazing as the last.

Kendal and the Blanket March 11, 2010Print This Post

Before Kendal learned to crawl, I used to spread out my t-shirt quilt (made out of all of my shirts from college) on the floor in our bedroom, and I would plop Kendal on it with a few toys to entertain herself while I got ready. When she started to become mobile, I did this less often, but I still did it occasionally.

One day, she asked (begged) for the blanket. (Took me a little while to figure out what she wanted.) She “helped” me spread it out and then she danced around on it while she watched TV.

It has become her thing. She LOVES this blanket, and she always wants me to get it down and spread it all out. And I really mean spread it out, she gets very frustrated if there are any wrinkles in the blanket and works very hard to smooth them out. It is very colorful and there are lots of fun things to look at it, but I don’t know just why she loves it so much. But I know she loves it.

Was At, Mama and Uh-oh Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 10:34 pm

All day long… Was At, Was At, Was At, Was At, Was At

Or Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama

Or Uh-oh, Uh-oh, Uh-oh, Uh-oh, Uh-oh, Uh-oh

She has become a broken record with her three go-to phrases. Cute as they are, I have gotten to the point where I am actually trying to explain to her she doesn’t need to ask Was At if she knows what it is, she doesn’t need to say my name unless she needs me, and no Uh-oh unless something is wrong. Explanations didn’t help, maybe tomorrow I will keep a tally for each of her phrases.

Hear with Ears March 10, 2010Print This Post

I am not sure where she got it from (although Little Einsteins does this, so maybe there), but whenever she hears something, she puts her hand on her ear to listen. “Oh, Was At?” Then I listen with her and ask her what she hears, the answer depends on what we are listening to – she loves to do this with “panes” (planes), “tweet-tweet” (birds), “beep-beep” (cars) or Bear and Bella.

2 Syllable Words March 9, 2010Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 10:24 pm

Until now, Kendal’s vocabulary has been limited to mono- syllable words – or repetitive syllables like mama and dada. In the last month, she has discovered additional syllables and started stringing words together.

  • Mic is now Mic-Me
  • Ow-side – outside
  • Hi baby (she loves to talk to her babies)
  • Was At – what’s that

Happy Birthday Morgan Murray! March 6, 2010Print This Post

I can’t belive they are turning 2! It seems like just yesterday Lori and I were comparing pregancy notes and we were all headed to lamaze class. Now they are 2.

Morgan’s party was held outside on a beautiful day, and it was a lot of fun to catch up with the Murrays (as always). Look how cute the two of them are sitting at the table eating their pizza.
