Kendal’s 1st Coach Bag July 9, 2009Print This Post

Several months ago, Kendal found this Coach bag and decided it was a great thing to put her stuff in so she could take her things back out. Over the past few months, she has taken to putting her things in it and carrying it around. She loves her bag so much, I even had to repair it…

Kendal’s New Trick – The Door Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 3:29 pm

Over the past couple of days, Kendal has discovered doors around the house. She started with the door to her room when we were playing in her room. She’d just walk over to the door and shut it, and then back to playing. Then she started going into her room just to shut the door when we were playing in the other room. I would hear thud, as she shut the door, and then fingers scratching and fussing from behind the door as she tries to get out. I go to the door turn the handle and she opens the door the rest of the way, looking very pleased. So far, its just her bedroom and our bedroom door, but it is all day long. Doors are so much fun!

Playgroup at Amy’s July 7, 2009Print This Post

Kendal and I went to a fun play group at Amy & Ava’s Monday. I forgot Amy mentioned bringing swim suits, so Kendal and I were in clothes while everyone else swam. But since Kendal wasn’t too happy about swimming at Amy’s last time, I decided it was probably for the best.

Kendal continues to be shy – especially leery when we arrive somewhere new or with a lot of people. Even though it was just a few people and we have been to Amy’s lots of times, today was no exception. Rather than fight it, I am trying to let her slowly warm to things are her own pace, which is actually hard for me to do. I see all the other kids having fun. I so want her to join I am tempted to push, but I am starting to learn.

So, when we arrived I set her down outside the pool fence and I sat down inside the pool fence by the pool (about 3 feet away). While I chatted with Amy & Megan and the other kids played, Kendal slowly inched her way toward me. Eventually, she was close enough to touch some of the toys. In time, I picked her up and sat on the edge of the pool dangling our feet in – she fussed for a second and then remembered how much she loves it. Finally, Kendal warmed up and happily played around the pool with Ava and Delaney. By the time we brought out the food, she was happy as a clam. In addition to the pictures, I got a cute video of the girls banging on the table!

Happy 4th of July July 6, 2009Print This Post

If its possible, I think 4th of July was a bit calmer this year than normal. (Certainly, a few less people and no middle-of-the-night fire alarm…) Kendal, Bobby and I headed out for the beach Wednesday night, so we were able to spend a nice long weekend at the beach.

On Friday night, we got to meet Stacey’s new baby – Emily. Kendal was very curious about Emily and kept trying to hand her toys like she does with us (and her little friends), but Emily is still too young.

At the end of the weekend, we asked Mimi to give us her pictures. She purged her photos – deleting bad images and ones with people’s eyes closed. When she finally gave them to us, there were 560 images!!! I narrowed down another almost 100 – dupes and such, but still LOTS of photos. And about 200 of them are just of Kendal – she is so cute it is impossible to narrow those!  I just love the series with her playing with the hats!
