Its FUN to be ONE! April 3, 2009
What a difference a year makes. In one year, Kendal has gone from a tiny, helpless infant to an independent *gasp* a toddler! She is even starting to look like a girl, less than like a baby. Wow – all of the things she has learned to do in just the last few weeks.
* She signs “more”
* She points to things she wants
* She cruises along, and is starting to try to stand independently
* She takes things out and puts them back into containers
* She eats just about everything we give her
* She climbs in and out of her ball pit & threw her tunnel
* She sits forward in a big girl car seat!
* She points the remote to the TV
* She knows where her head is
* She gives kisses when asked
* She is learning to blow kisses and high five
* She puts toys on her walker or plane and pushes them around the room
* She hears the garage door open, from the other side of the house, and she gets exctited and goes to find Daddy when he comes home from work.
* She has some serious separation anxiety starting…
At her one-year appointment, we learned that her iron level is holding steady at 11, which is the bottom of normal, but at least in the normal range. So, we can transition from iron drops to vitamin drops with iron.
She is now 21lbs and 29 inches tall, which puts her in the 75th percentile for height and 50th for weight. Her head is in the 95th percentile – big head like Momma!
I am in constant awe over the milestones she reaches. I see her with her friends who are a few months older, and I think, “Wow, they are doing XYZ. I don’t think Kendal will be ready to do that in a few months.” But suddenly, she is a month or two older, and she is doing that exact thing.
