Kendal’s First Word December 30, 2008Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 5:09 pm

A few weeks ago, Kendal said Mama for the first time for two days straight. Every time she wanted something or I left the room, she seemed to say Mama. But then she completely stopped, so we couldn’t decide whether to count that as her first word or not. Well, around Christmas she started again. Sometimes, it defiantly seems like just babble, but other times she defiantly seems to be saying it purposefully.

So, we are calling it official. Kendal’s first word is Mama.

Surprise Dad!!! Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 5:15 pm

I have to explain how I managed to pull off the best surprise ever! Bobby’s Christmas gift was a golf cart, and he was shocked! It is something he has been wanting since we moved into the neighborhood four years ago. He got close to buying one in the fall, but decided not to at the time. So, I tracked down the person he had been talking to and negotiated a deal.

I had it delievered to the house while he was at work on Dec 23, and I stored it at our neighbor’s house. Then Christmas morning, when Bobby took the dogs outside. I called our neighbor and asked them to bring the cart around front in 10 minutes. Then, while I was getting ready I told Bobby that I had forgoten to tell him that I promised Maria (our neighbor) that I would come over to take a picture of the whole family in front of the tree. So, we headed out through the garage (camera in tow) to take the Donald’s picture.

As the garage opened, Bobby noticed a frog hopping inside… Then he noticed the cart and he asked, “Who’s here” (He thought one of my friends with a cart had come by.) I told him Santa must have left it, and is jaw dropped!!! Can you believe I caught it on camera! He was so surprised! And I was so exited – I can’t believe he had NO CLUE! I had even gone as far as “wrapping” some things from around the house so I could put them under the tree weeks ago, so he wouldn’t wonder why there were no gifts under the tree for him.

Surprise Dad!!!

Kendal’s First Christmas December 26, 2008Print This Post

I LOVE Christmas, and I was so excited about Kendal’s first Christmas. I couldn’t get my hands on enough Baby’s First Christmas stuff!!! I ended up with three Christmas outfits for Kendal – all of which she wore I might add! From the day after Thanksgiving on, Kendal and I sung along with Christmas songs every car ride.

When Christmas finally arrived, I was still recovering from a stomach bug and Kendal woke up with a head cold, but that didn’t stop us from having a fantastic Christmas! We started the morning with Daddy’s big surprise, then we opened our stockings and family gifts. After a nap for Kendal, we were off to Mimi & Papa Jack’s to have Christmas with the rest of the family.

Kendal loaded up on toys from Mimi & Papa Jack, Aunt Liny & Uncle Bryan, Great Aunt Suzie and Lizzie & Great Grandma! Kendal even got toys just to stay at Mimi’s house to play with!I think one of the coolest gifts (because it was a surprise for Mommy too) was the rocking horse from Great Grandma – she picked it out just for Kendal who smiles from ear to ear when she rides it!

After all of the craziness of Christmas, we spent the whole day relaxing at Mimi’s house playing with our new toys. Merry Christmas everyone!

‘Twas The Night Before Christmas December 24, 2008Print This Post

In my family, Dad always read us The Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve before bed. Since it was important for me to start this tradition for Kendal, I bought a board book for Kendal of The Night Before Christmas that we read before naps in December. Then on Christmas Eve, just before bed Bobby read Kendal The Night Before Christmas… The first of many Christmas traditions to come.

Look Out World – Kendal is on the Move! December 23, 2008Print This Post

For a long time, Kendal was not interested in crawling, she was content to sit and play with her toys. She also loved to stand, and I really thought she would walk before she would crawl. But recently, she started trying to crawl. The other day, she got going. She doesn’t go very far or very fast with her army-man crawl, but she is very task oriented crawling to reach a specific toy. She will crawl a few feet over to a toy and then sit up and play with it. When I am getting ready in the morning, I sit her on the bath mat to play with toys. Now she will crawl over to the door and swing it open and closed or play with the scale.  With a little incentive -- a snack -- I was able to get her to crawl for me to video.

9 Month Check Up Print This Post

Filed under: Dr. Appointments, General — jen @ 4:15 pm

Yikes – Kendal is 9 months old!!!! Since I wasn’t feeling well (again) Mom came over to go with me to take Kendal to her check up. The doctor says she looks great. She weights 19 lbs 13 oz and is 29 inches long, putting her in the 75th and 90th percentiles respectively. Kendal is a little low on her iron count (so was her friend Morgan) so I have to give her iron supplements for a month and go back to recheck her. (I am sure she will love them!) She only had to have 1 shot today, and she did well. Next check up is 1-year!!!
