Kids Fun Day at Magnolia Park October 29, 2008Print This Post

Kendal and I met up with the other Moms and Babies from the Lake Mary Moms Club to have a Halloween-themed fun day at the Magnolia Park. It was Kendal’s first time at the park, we slid down the slide and swang on the swings. It was a long day because the park time was during nap time, so K was tired but she still enjoyed being outside.

Dinner with the Murray’s Print This Post

Sunday night, we met up with the Murray’s at Bahama Breeze.  Kendal sat next to Morgan in a high chair for the first time (at a resturant) and really seemed to enjoy being a big girl. Morgan also shared some puffs and yogart drops with Kendal, and Kendal seemed to enjoy the melt-in-her-mouth goodness.

Coby’s 3rd Birthday Party Print This Post

While mom rested two weekends ago, Kendal and I went to Coby’s 3rd birthday party at the Lake Mary Little Gym.  Kendal had a good time watching all the kids, and we also got to catch up with Connor, Bevin, and Jacklyn. We went home after and Kendal told Mom how much fun she had.

Pumpkin Patch October 26, 2008Print This Post

It was such a beautiful day on Sunday, so we took Kendal to the pumpkin patch to pick out her first pumpkin. Unfortunatly for the photos, it was super sunny and Kendal squints like her Daddy. But it was a fun day. I can’t wait to do it again next year and see what a difference one year makes!

7 Months Old Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 4:26 pm

Inevitably when people ask me what Kendal is up to, I am at a loss. She is “up to” so much, it is hard to think about a specific new thing someone would be interested in hearing about. So, I say the usual sleeping well, eating veggies and fruit, sitting up and becoming more interactive. But the truth is so much more. So, here are some observations about our 7-month-old little girl and what she is “up to.”

Kendal is more interested in learning about and observing the world around her everyday. She is a very content to entertain herself playing quietly on the floor or jumping in her jumper. She loves to sit and play with toys; she picks them up, puts them in her mouth, shakes them or beats them against another toy, and then she grabs another toy. Everything is fair game, and she loves to rip the pages off Mommy’s catalogs. She turns the toys over in her hands over and over inspecting them from every angle, and I can almost see her mind working as she inspects them. She is very smart and has recently expanded her reach for toys and has progressed to lunging forward. This results in her laying on her tummy, and she is happy for a while until she fusses to be set back upright. I believe crawling will happen sooner rather than later. The other day she even realized she could lean over the edge of her little chair to pick up toys she drops.

Kendal has also started to really look for things and crane her neck to see better. Whether it is in a game of peek-a-boo or watching the doggies walk through the room she cranes her neck to get a better look.

The strawberry marks on her face are continuing to fade, and I am confident they will eventually completely fade away.

Her hair continues to get longer, ticker and blonder, and her once bald spot is now covered in a thick layer of blonde fuzz. As her hair is getting longer, it is increasingly in her eyes so I have taken to keeping her in bows most of the time. And, for fun, I have started making her bows to match all of her outfits! Mimi keeps threatening to cut her hair, but I want it to grow out now rather than later.

Kendal is an excellent sleeper, just like her Mommy. And with the exception of her being sick this week, she typically sleeps about 12 hours a night plus an hour morning nap and a 2 hour afternoon nap. Except at Mimi’s house where she has decided she can do anything she wants…

We continue to add fruits and veggies to her repitore of foods, and so far peas are the only thing she doesn’t care for. She eats sweet potatos, carrots, apples, pears and prunes, but her favotire food is bananas – just like Daddy! She looks like a little bird when she eats bananas – with a wide open mouth begging for more. She even had her first stage 2 baby food the other day, it was bananas, peaches and oatmeal. yum yum I think we may branch out to start some small finger foods very soon. I also plan to introduce the sippy cup this week…

Kendal is very interested in books these days, she loves to “help” turn the pages and look at the pictures.

I am not sure if this is a sign that Kendal will be easy to potty train, but I keep telling myself it is. We have dubbed the exer-sauser the poop-sauser. Without fail, everytime we put Kendal in the exer-sauser, she poops! It has gotten to the point that if she hasn’t pooped for the day yet, we will put her in the sauser to poop. It only takes a minute or two before we can smell success. The bad news is that it often results in a poop mess – like the picture from a few days ago, but the good news is it keeps her pooping! It’s really weird!

Kendal is definatly a pacifer baby. I try to limit the paci use and only offer it when she is fussy. But she can hold that paci in her mouth for hours and if she still has it in her mouth when she wakes, it is hard to get her to give it up. Oh well, it makes happy. She also still loves her little bear blanket and sleeps with it all of the time. I love to watch her on the monitor inspect the bear and rub it on her face.

Just like Mommy and Daddy, Kendal loves to watch TV and becomes transfixed. We recently bought her the entire Baby Einstiens collection, and I have taken to recording Mickey’s Club House in the mornings for her. Often when she watches TV, she will rest her head on a nearby pillow.

Kendal had gotten a yellow balloon at Coby’s Birthday party, so I thought I’d teach her about static electricity.

Family Dinner October 24, 2008Print This Post

Here are a few videos from family dinner two weeks back. Kendal’s Great Grand Mother and Great Aunt joined us for dinner.  Mimi of course had lots of Halloween presents for all of us.  She even managed to make it in the videos and pictures, which is a nice change since she is usually the one behind the camera. Thanks Papa Jack for the videos.

Sick of being Sick! October 19, 2008Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 10:37 pm

It started with a scratch… a small scratchy throat on Wednesday night. By the time I woke on Thursday, it felt as though I swallowed sandpaper. I knew it would be coming, it was about time, after all I hadn’t been sick since before I got pregnant so a year and half or so is a major record for me! (Other than the 10 months of morning sickness, of course.) And Bobby keeps reminding me that there is never a good time to be sick, BUT I had to miss so many things this weekend.

I had to cancel my TV and shopping combo party on the day of! I had to give back the car and ship back the samples without anyone getting to play! But I have lots of goodies for my next party, I guess. And it was fun to test drive and bring home a Saturn Vue – and trust me Lollipops and Gumdrops makes the cutest clothes!

I missed Laura’s 30th Birthday party – Happy Birthday Laura! I missed Coby’s 3rd Birthday Party – Bobby & Kendal went without me. And the Lake Mary Mom’s Club’s Halloween picnic. Booooooooooooo

Here is to feeling better tomorrow, and fingers crossed that Kendal and Bobby stay healthy!

Halloween Party October 14, 2008Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 10:53 pm

I took Kendal to her first Halloween Party on Tuesday. It was at Katie & Sophie’s house and we had so much fun. Kendal just sat there with her little pumpkin costume and watched all of the other babies. She didn’t seem to mind her hat one bit! It was so cute to see all of the other babies all dressed up. As you can see in the photos, Katie set up a little photo area for the babies to pose in. At the end of the party, we attempted to get all of the babies in a picture together, but with half of the babies now crawlers it wasn’t easy! I took way too many pictures – around 160, but these are the top 100. Sorry!!! But you have to admit these babies are adorable! At least scroll to the second page to see Kendal in her pumpkin costume!

Babies in a row – from left to right: Ava the Bunny (who kept scooting away), Kendal the Pumpkin, Jake the Punk Rocker, Zac the Dalmatian, Sophie the Lamb, Eva the Ladybug, Kolt Superman, Stella the Pumpkin, Luke the Skeleton, Morgan the Tulip Princess and Delainey the Flower. The older kids (not in the line up) include Buzz Light Year Christopher, Belle Julianne & Leopard Girl Avery.
