Saturday at Mimi and Papa Jack’s Print This Post

We went over to watch the Gator game at Mimi and Papa Jack’s on Saturday.  Papa Jack grilled burgers and we enjoyed the great weather outside.  Although the game certainly did not go the way we wanted, we had a good time.

Every Wednesday night, we have dinner with Papa Jack, Mimi, Lindsay and Bryan.  Not that they have gotten settled in the new house, Papa Jack decided to break in the new grill this week.

6 month check up Print This Post

Filed under: Dr. Appointments, General — jen @ 8:21 pm

Kendal had her six-month check up on Thursday, and everything checked out great! Kendal now weighs 18 lbs, 27 3/4 inches tall and her head is 17 3/4 inches around.  All of her measurements put her in the 90th percentile and up! I can’t believe how much she has grown in six months, she has put on 10 lbs 8 oz!!!

Kendal also got her six-month shots today and a flu shot – she was NOT happy about the shots, but I think she might have cried more during the exam then after the shots! It was like she knew what was coming!

Kendal is 6 months old! September 21, 2008Print This Post

I can’t believe it has been six months, my little-tiny, newborn baby is 6 months old! And she isn’t so little-tiny any more. The helpless baby I brought home from the hospital is now becoming independent – sitting on her own, grabbing and picking things up. The red-faced, slightly-yellow, skinny baby who laid curled in her chair is now a happy, healthy, pink-cheeked baby who sits upright and fills her little chair. It is more than incredible to think about all of the ways she has changed in such a short time and all of the things she has already learned.

At six months, Kendal sleeps 11-12 hours a night, sits independently and picks up her pacifier to put it back in her mouth. Her face lights up and she pants when I come in the room to pick her up from a nap. She has an amazing laugh, which is a beautiful sound. And the toys that she once barely noticed lying beside her are now picked up, rattled and put in her mouth. Currently, her favorite thing is to jump in her jumper and she can keep herself entertained in there for an hour – just jumping, “singing” and playing with the various toys. She is now begining to appreciate the toys in the exersauser and realize she can move around in the seat too. She is still fascinated with TV, but she is now becoming interested in looking at books too.

Kendal has a predictable schedule, which makes my life more sane. And she can “soothe” herself to sleep. All we have to do is “tuck her in” with her pacifier and bear and she will roll around and “talk” to herself for a bit until she gets comfy – then sleep…

I am still nursing Kendal, but now she is learning to eat “solids” too. And she wants to “help” with the spoon, which typically results in one or both of us wearing her food.  When we are out and about, she is even learning to hold her bottle to feed herself.

She is active, but easily entertained. She is a good “shopper” with Mommy, and she loves to ride in the car. She is very vocal, often “talking” and “singing” to herself. When she wants something she has a healthy set of lungs, but generally she is not fussy and is pretty peaceful.

Kendal is facinated by Bear and Bella and tracks their every move. When the dogs get close enough, Kendal loves to reach out and touch them. I have to watch that she doesn’t pull too hard and that the dogs don’t lick her face. But they seem mututally interested in learning more about each other.

We are very blessed with an amazing baby whom we love more and more each day. Happy six months Kendal – we can’t wait to watch you grow in the next six months.

No Peas Please Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 4:09 pm

Kendal tried her first veggie Saturday – peas. And she wasn’t such a big fan. I started with some ceral and subbed in some peas, she made such a face and spit most of them out. She was a green sticky mess!

By today, she actually ate some (when I snuck them in between ceral bites). So, we will keep trying peas this week. At the store today we stocked up on more fruits and veggies to try in the coming weeks, so I am sure there are more colorful pictures to come!

Girls Night In September 19, 2008Print This Post

On Wednesday, I hosted a Girls Night In. Basically, I was choosen through www.HouseParty.com to host a party sponsered by Lipstick Jungle (the TV show), Maybelline cosmetics and Orville Redenbacker’s popcorn. So, we got to watch the season premier of Lipstick Jungle – one week before it will air on TV and try free samples of makeup and popcorn. Only six people ended up being able to make the party, but we had a blast! We chatted, watched the show and snacked. At the end of the night, I sent everyone home with goodie bags! I hope I get selected to host another party sometime – if anyone else checks out the site and gets to host a party, be sure to invite me, they are fun! Here are some pictures of the goodies…

Mom’s Birthday September 15, 2008Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 8:16 pm

Yesterday was my 29th birthday. Or as Bobby and I decided, it was my 1st Annual 29th birthday!!!  We didn’t do much, just kind of a lazy Sunday – though I did continue the hunt for a brown formal dress for Stef’s wedding. If anyone has one I could barrow… I am having NO luck.

For my birthday Kendal and Bobby got me some PJs I wanted and a new phone! I got the new BlackBerry – it has a camera!!! I am so excited about it! Bobby even got a pink “skin” for it too, so I am cool! One more year of my 20s… seems a little sad…
