We are very excited to announce that all of Kendal’s furniture came in on Saturday. It was SO exciting!!! Best of all, everything looks AMAZING!!!  Next step is some art work for the plain walls, but if baby came today at least she would have a place to sleep. On the top shelf, those are Mom’s Disney Snowglobes – don’t they looks great?! Check it out! (Oh, and if you haven’t noticed yet, you can click on the pictures to make them bigger.)

The Jacket January 21, 2008Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 6:54 pm

Last night, we went out to dinner for Jan’s birthday (happy birthday Grammy), and it was one of those rare cold days here in O-town. The high for the day was somewhere in the 50s and as we were leaving the house it was 49. So, it was time to pull out my peacoat.

A couple of months ago, I found a really good deal on a black, maternity, wool peacoat from Gap. Although I knew I wouldn’t wear it much, I figured it would be good to have when it was cold. Because my other choices of maternity jackets are a jean jacket and a black sweater.

Since we have the car in the garage, I didn’t bother putting on the coat – just tossed it on the seat to wear later.

After dinner, I put on my coat and was shocked and dismayed to find that my lovely maternity peacoat no longer buttoned over my tummy!!! I was bothered by this the whole way home. I am not that big, what a crock the stupid jacket doesn’t fit anymore. (It did a month ago, last time it was cold.) I was really worked up and upset!

When we got home, I took the jacket off and realized – this wasn’t my Gap Maternity Coat, this was my Ann Taylor coat. Bobby LAUGHED! I could have sworn I checked the label when I grabbed it…

I tried on my Gap coat, just for good measures, and I am happy to report – it still fits!

I am very happy to say that the bathmat search was worth it! (see post below about Kendal’s bathroom.) The bathmat arrived and it is super soft along with coordinating perfectly with the shower curtain and towels. Take a look!

The Bedding Arrived!!! January 10, 2008Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 10:20 pm

When I got home from work tonight, Bobby told me to go into the nursery because he thought the paint smell had fianlly gone away. So, I stuck my head in the door, flipped the switch and sniffed. “Nope, it still smells,” I called back to him. Then I caught something out of the correr of my eye – a big pile of all of Kendal’s crib bedding! It arrived!!!

When Bobby learned that it came in, he deiced to secretly pick it up on his way home to surprise me. What a GREAT surprise!

I LOVE the bedding. It is even cuter in real life than the photos (trust me)! Now, we just have to wait for the furniture to come in, which will be in the next week to two weeks. So exciting!

We also bought an area rug, which came in yesterday, and it goes perfect with the bedding!

Thanks Grandma and Papa Jack for buying all of the bedding for Christmas! Kendal will love it!

Lamaze Class Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 10:12 pm

Last night was our first “lamaze class.” Really more of a labor-prep class than just lamaze; we signed up to take the class with Lori and RJ Murray. We were all looking forward to the class, and I have high hopes for the class making me feel more confident about what’s coming.

Good news – the class was great!!! It was the first of 5 nights, 3 hours each and there was lots of good info presented. We are very happy that we are taking this class to help prepare us.

Kendal’s bathroom! Print This Post

Filed under: Baby's Gifts, General — jen @ 10:01 pm

When the fishy towels from the Nanton’s arrived, it set me into full-on bathroom decorating mode. I had only seen the fishies once, and I had been going back and forth with ideas for the bathroom. Once I had those towels in hand, I was in love!

So, I set out on an online search for a shower curtain and bathmat that would coordinate. I found one in last season’s Pottery Barn Kids collection. Since PBK no longer carries the line, I hunted eBay. Finally finding the shower curtain, I ordered Friday night. The shower curtain arrived Monday and it’s perfect with the towels.

Much to my dismay, I made a rookie eBay mistake! When I bought the curtain, there was 1 auction for the matching bathmat. Even thought it had lots of time, someone bought it!!! Oh no!!! There were no other mats listed, I even emailed everyone who used to have mats to see if they had more. I struck out over and over, and by now I was obsessed.

By now, we also received a super cute bath gift basket from Ruth and Rick Currey with the second matching towel, hoodie towel, bath book, pink rubber ducky, Johnsons’ gift pack and CM stickers — all done up with pink tissue! Thanks Rick and Ruth – We LOVE it!

Finally, Wednesday night, someone answered my want-it-now!!! The bathmat is coming! Whooo hoooo. Now, onto finding a curtain for the window…

28 Week Checkup and Ultrasound January 8, 2008Print This Post

Filed under: General, Ultrasound — bob @ 2:45 pm

Jen and Kendal had their 28-Week checkup this morning.  Jen also had to do her 1-hour glucose test, which judging by her face, did not taste so good :) .  She’ll find out those results in about a week, and hopefully she will not have to go back and do a 3-hour one.  Fingers crossed. Everything else checked out great.

We also had decided to do a 3D ultrasound as well.  It was very cool to see her face (although still a bit smushy) for the first time. She was very active during it thanks to the high-sugar glucose drink Jen had before it.

Gifts from the neighbors… January 7, 2008Print This Post

This past week our neighbors brought by a few gifts for Kendal.

AJ, Marissa, Lauren and Dillion dropped off a cute hooded towel (picture to come later) that matches some of the stuff Aunt Lindsay already bought her.

Then today Madeline, Emily and Tyler (thanks Mark, Jen, Madeline, Tyler, Emily and Hunter) brought by a very soft bear and blanket for Kendal.

 Thank you all very much.

More Gifts for Kendal… Print This Post

Thank you very much to the Nanton’s – Nick, Kristina, Brock and Bowen for the great gifts for Kendal.  It was very fitting for them to buy Kendal her “Gator” mobile.  It even plays a lullaby version of “Orange and Blue”. And thanks to Jen for allowing me to register for the mobile, even though it won’t match the rest of the nursery (I told her Gator stuff goes go with everything…).
