Much progress has been made in the nursery today. Lindsay & Bryan came over first thing this morning to pick up the furniture, and Bobby and I picked paint colors!
What a chore picking out paint colors turned out to be. Our first stop was at Lowes where we bought all of the necessary supplies and purchased 2 sample paints. Armed with my fabric swatches, we were sure one of these colors would be perfect. Once we got home, Bobby painted a couple of swatches on the wall. EWWWWWWWWWWW!!!! One turned out Coral and the other Elephant Gray!!! They were supposed to be in the tan family!
So, back to Lowes we headed. On our way to Lowes, Bobby realized there was a Sherwin Williams much closer, so we opted to stop there. Again, with fabric swatches in hand, we checked out paint colors. Once again, we settled on 2 samples. (Bonus – SW was having a paint sale!) This time, we were sure one would be a winner.
Almost as soon as the paint went on the wall, Bobby was sure either color would be great. And he was right. One is more of a sandy/tan color (Whole Wheat) and the other a richer brown (Latte) color. After staring at the patches of painted wall for the better part of an hour, I went next door to ask Carolyn for her opinion.
Unfortunately, Carolyn was as torn as we were! But she made some excellent points. (Thank you Carolyn!) In the end, we decided to go with the “safer” choice and stick with the Whole Wheat. Since we picked dark cinnamon furniture, I was concerned about the lack of contrast with the deeper walls. But we are considering possibly using the Latte elsewhere in the house because we do love the color.
So at 4:30, Bobby was off to the paint store (again) to purchase the chosen color. Paint purchased, he is currently pulling everything that is left in the room out in preparation to paint. I think tomorrow will be painting day!
Oh – and I forgot to post… The other day, Bobby and I went to order the nursery chair. When we walked in, there was our hamper ready to be picked up! (Mom & Dad purchased it with the bedding for us!) I was SO excited to take it home. It is the first piece of furniture/bedding stuff and it looks PERFECT! So, the good news is that we were able to hold it up to all paint choices for color combos! I do hope Kendal likes Pink!
