Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

Hello? Is that you? October 30, 2007Print This Post

While laying on the couch, watching the UF v GA game on Saturday, I felt the baby for the first time! It was like our baby Gator was cheering for the Gators. It was early in the 1st quarter, and I felt something and I wondered… suddenly there it was again! About a 1/2 hour later, the baby tapped hello one more time. Then the game went down hill, and I took a nap.

The next night, I felt a little fluttering again, and since then I have felt the baby a few more times. Always when I am VERY still and usually when I am not thinking about it. (I have tried willing the baby to move, but it doesn’t seem to respond!)

I am VERY excited about feeling the baby, and Bobby can’t wait till he can feel it too! Guess our baby is a Gator fan even before birth!

18 Week Update Print This Post

Filed under: General, Ultrasound — bob @ 10:33 am

Jen woke up early Monday morning with pain in her right abdomen.  Her doctor wanted her to come in to be safe, so we went in Monday morning.  The doctors seem to think she is experiencing round-ligament pain, which is pretty normal, but we are going back in Wednesday morning for a follow-up appointment.  Fortunately, she woke up today and is feeling much better, which rules out anything more serious.

They did do an ultrasound and the baby is doing great, with a heart rate of 150. The ultrasound tech did get an “underneath” view, and gave us her guess of the sex (which I’m not sharing :) ), but we will know for sure in two weeks.

Great Weekend October 21, 2007Print This Post

Jen and I spent the weekend with her parents, Lindsay and Bryan at her family’s beach house in Pass-a-grille (St. Pete Beach).  We had the wedding of our friends Mike and Emily’s to attend on Saturday in Tampa.  The wedding was nice, but happened to be during the Florida-Kentucky game.  Bryan and I did spend part of the reception in the back seat of the car listening to the game, which I’m sure looked strange for anyone passing by.  We did make it to a nearby Chili’s to catch the 4th quarter and see the Gators defeat Kentucky.

New Orleans October 16, 2007Print This Post

Filed under: General — jen @ 4:37 pm

Last weekend, October 4-6, Bobby and I joined Mom, Dad, Lindsay, Bryan, Cornell, Andy, Robbie and Michelle on a trip to New Orleans.

Having never been there before, Bobby and I decided that the Gators playing in Baton Rouge was as good of an excuse as any to visit NO – even though we had no plans of going to Baton Rouge for the game.

Traveling with 10 – including pregnant me – was an event. But luckily that was the weekend that my sickness FIANLLY decided to fade. I swear if we had gone the week before, it would have been a totally different trip.

As it was, we had a GREAT time.We walked the French Quarter, had dinner at all of the hot spots and took a tour around the city. While the pregnant lady never made it to Harrah’s with the clan at night, it seems that the Glass family did their part to contribute to the NO tourist community at Harrah’s.

Friday night, Cornell had arranged for us to all have dinner together at this fancy restaurant (The Commander – I think) and it had the most AMAZING mash potatoes EVER! Baby really liked them! While 8 of 10 of us had wonderful dishes, Dad decided he should mention to a manager that 2 meals were not so good. Not only were those 2 meals taken care of, they treated us to Champagne and desert. (As it turned out, Dad didn’t mention the issue to just any manager, he spoke to the GM.) And not just any desert – 17 deserts. That’s right; we had 17 deserts to choose from for 10 people!!! MMMMMM… no one left hungry!

On Saturday, we took a bus tour of the city that included a trip to the 9th Ward to see where the levy broke and the area that has hardly even started to recoup. Two years after Katrina, it was incredible how much further the area still had to go.

Check out some pictures from our trip – more to come as I get them from Mom and Lindsay. (Be sure to check out the baby bump starting in the pictures by the water) http://rlburg.com/photos/main.php?g2_itemId=2967

While ”the game” was less than we could have hoped for… It was a WONDERFUL trip and I am glad we all went. Thanks to the Glass family for inviting us!

Thank you very much Heather and Steve for these cute plates for the baby.  I’m sure baby burg will be speaking French in no time.  They may even get additonal use as you know how Jen feels about her food touching :) .

16 Week Checkup October 12, 2007Print This Post

Filed under: General — bob @ 10:01 am

Jen and I went for her monthly checkup yesterday.  These appointments are not very long.  They checked her weight, blood pressure, and then listen to the baby’s heartbeat with a doppler.  The heartbeat was much easier to find this time, and sounded very strong.  Next appointment on November 13th will be when we find out the sex.

A special happy birthday to Bear who turns 3 today.

And now, everyone knows… October 2, 2007Print This Post

Just over a week ago, we finally shouted our news from the rooftops – or email blasted the world! Over the next 24 hours, my email box was filled with congratulations and best wishes from friends and family. Just a couple of weeks prior, after my birthday, I told Bobby that I thought one of the best things about my birthday was the inbox full of birthday wishes. This was even better!

I saved every email, and while I don’t yet know exactly what I will do with them, I will definitely keep everyone! From predictions of whether we will have a boy or a girl, to pregnancy tips and lots of love!

And, of course, the cards in the mail. Aunt Jerry sent me a handwritten note on her stationary, and it is very special.

At the office, we told people very quickly, and then figured word would spread to the others. But I guess because we kept it secret for so long, people waited for us to tell everyone.  By Thursday, I gave up trying to hide the little bit of a bump I am now sporting and wore a dress. About mid-day Mandy stopped me to tell me a story of Terrance and Adam calling to ask if I might be pregnant. Playing coy – Mandy wouldn’t say, and at her suggestion, I decided to play a little joke. I went in to see Terrance and told him that a little birdie told me that he thought I was getting fat… Poor Terrance stuttered and spurted even after I relieved him by telling him that I was indeed 13 weeks pregnant. hehehe – it was fun!

Finally, the last people we told were Deborah and Ronnie. We knew we were having dinner with them Saturday, and we had decided to wait to tell them in person. In preparation for dinner, we had a lengthy email discussion about where to eat. Even pickier than normal, it was a comical chain as restaurant after restaurant was vetoed. In the end, we ended up at Uno’s for dinner and watched the game after dinner at the house. It was a fun night! (There was a certain game incident that night, but we shan’t talk about that…)

So, now that everyone knows – it is so great! Now, if I can just get past this sickness junk…

Thanks for the love!!!
