Dad – We saw the Peanut!!! August 23, 2007Print This Post

So, I am a little behind writing since lately I feel like CRAP! But this story needs sharing, so since today is a good day, here goes!

As we were leaving the Dr after having the ultrasound, Bobby and I started to call our parents to tell them we saw the baby. I called my Dad first, and the conversation went something like this…

“Hi Dad, we are just leaving the Drs.”

“How did it go?”

“We got to see the little Peanut!”

“Oh that’s great, is that what you wanted?”

“Well, that’s why we went in – to have an ultrasound and see the baby.”

“But did you want a boy?”

“A boy!?! What?!?! We don’t know what we are having it is too early.”

“Then why did you say you saw the little penis!?”

“Peanut Dad! PEA-NUT!”

Yes, apparently Dad thinks I am that crass!!! After much laughter, I went on to explain to Dad that at 7 weeks 4 days it was MUCH too early to tell, we’ll have to wait till 20 weeks for that!”

Jen sent me to Babies-R-Us (which is a pretty scary place) to pickup a present for Kristina’s baby shower and I could not resist picking this onsie.  I could not believe how many things we are going to need to buy in the next few months.  Clearly there is much to learn.

First Ultrasound August 15, 2007Print This Post

We had our first ultrasound this morning to get a more accurate due date. It was a very exciting moment to see our baby for the first time (even though it was hard to tell what was what). Baby measured 1.29 cm which equates to 7w 4d. This changed our due date back to March 29th, which fell right in the range we had thought of between 7 .5-8.5 weeks. The baby had a healthy heard rate of 166bpm, which although we could not hear yet, we could see it fluttering quickly on the ultrasound. It was definetly a moment I will never forget.

First Doctors Appointment August 9, 2007Print This Post

Jen and I had our first doctor’s appointment today.  We didn’t actually see the doctor, but met with Paula, who is a nurse practitioner.  She asked us lots of questions, and answered the ones we had (though I think she learned more than we did).  Jen and I did try to convince her to do an ultrasound today, but she wouldn’t budge.  We are scheduled to have our first one next Wednesday, so that is exciting.

First Things for Baby August 1, 2007Print This Post

On the day we found out that we were pregnant, I ordered a special little something for Daddy & Baby – 3 little monkey onesies! I knew they would make Daddy smile.

And today, Aunt Lindsay came by the office for a secret rendezvous in the parking garage to give us some gifts for Baby. Surprise, surprise — Aunt Lindsay found Baby cutie booties with Stars!

(Ohhhh, and by the way, it was really good cheese, and it wasn’t my fault they didnt have what I wanted! I had to find just the right cheese!)

cheeseWell Jen had her first “pregnancy craving” today.  Before we left the office today she told me she wanted cheddar cheese.  On the way home we first stopped at Target, even though she wanted to get the cheese first at Publix next door.  After a quick trip inside Target, we went to Publix where she spent 5 minutes finding just the right cheddar cheese.  She was upset that I would not let her eat the block of cheese on the way home .  Once home, she wasted no time fufulling the craving.
